Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy did not get along during the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road. It’s not new, but a new report from the New York Times has explicitly told the story in which more information was revealed.
Page Six picked up on the “oral history” of the release which included conversations between much of the cast and the crew, including Theron and Hardy themselves. They thought about what it was like to film George Miller’s film in 2015.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, for her part, explained that there were “many different personalities” in conflict at the time. Charlize admitted that she didn’t understand how important the role was for Hardy, who could also feel additional pressure. In retrospect, said Charlize, she was not empathetic with Hardy who replaced Mel Gibson in the iconic role.
“It’s scary,” said Charlize. The actress said that, in a way, they acted almost like their characters. They did not sympathize with each other and instead clashed on set. Hardy shared his opinion.
